RDS Day 18:
Collage! Wow this class was just fantastic. I was ticked off by my son after my last post for being so down on myself so we talked about being true versus being unrealistically positive about one’s work (for marketing purposes).

RDS Day 13:
Patterns, colour, shapes. We looked at artists who’ve incorporated patterns into their work, Matisse, Bonnard, Picasso where the patterns become as integral to the work as the figure or landscape, often taking on a life of their own

I’ve had a number of fantastic commissions since Paris which I’m juggling with my study at the Royal Drawing School this term.

This is for a scullers birthday complete with significant colours.

In February 1992 a small group of Tideway Scullers came to Seville with the legendary Bill Barry for a training camp. I think I’m opposite the club we boated from but it’s all a bit hazy.

RDS Day 12:
Start of a new class - focusing on observation and imagination.

RDS Day 11:
Well…. we were focusing on Bonnard and Winifred Nicholson last week and their incredible use of colour sometimes at the expense of form.
Our aim for the day was to draw colour in black and white using a variety of different marks.

RDS Day 10 Evening Life class:
The lights were dimmed (so even harder for me to stay awake) and we drew against the large window onto the street. It was already dark outside but the neon lights gave the class an Edward Hopper ambience.
